Covid-19 Proposal:

For the C-19 brief I intend on taking pictures of the farm that I live at as I live at home and commute to Uni. My intention for this brief is to document my family run farming business during the Covid-19 pandemic and to see how it has changed farming or if it has changed farming in anyway.

William Bazlinton:

I have been looking at some of William Bazlinton’s work and some of his black and white photographs from his ‘Izzy & Geoff- Keith Acres Farm’ Series are very similar to the style the I am looking for to incorporate into my work.

This photograph was taken next to the figure on the left of the image. The camera lens that the photographer used was not stated on the website but I presume that it is just a standard lens like a 18-50mm etc. I think that the aperture is around F11-16 give or take. The light in the picture is diffused sun light because it is quite cloudy in the photograph. The figure is to the left of the image but it’s in focus as the sheep are n the right and are in focus. The sheep in the background also cause the viewer to drift towards the background.
This photograph was taken behind the subjects in the photograph. The camera lens that the photographer used was not stated on the website but I presume that it is just a standard lens like a 18-50mm etc. I think that the aperture of the image is F11-16 give or take. The light source in this photograph is direct sunlight which is behind the subjects in the photograph. the subject is further away from the camera than the last photo and there are two figures on the left I and in the middle of the photograph.

Lisa Howeler:

Another photographer that I have been looking at is Lisa Howeler and her ‘The Farm Project’ again I love the use of black and white photographs which I want to incorporate into my work.

In this photograph the photographer is infant of the subject by quite a distance. The lens type probably is a standard lens like a 18-50mm lens etc. The aperture for this image is F6-11 give or take. The lights used for this photograph are fluorescent lights which are found in the foreground of the image and in the background too. The subject is to the right of the image and is in harsh dark shadows.
In this photograph the photographer is quite far from the subject and the subject is walking away from the photographer. The camera lens that the photographer used was not stated on the website but I presume that it is just a standard lens like a 18-50mm etc. The aperture for the image is probably F6-11 give or take. The lights used in this photograph are also fluorescent lights. The subject is slightly off centre to the right in the image and is walking away from the photographer.

Matt Black:

Another Photographer that I was looking at was Matt Black I feel that his work is pretty much exactly what style I would like my photographs to be like for this module. The following photographs were taken from his series known as ‘The Black Oakies’

In this photograph the photographer was standing quite a distance away from the subject and has put them in the centre of the image. The camera lens that the photographer used was not stated on the website but I presume that it is just a standard lens like a 18-50mm etc. The aperture for this image was probably from F8-12 give or take a few stops. The lighting in this photograph is diffused sunlight because it is a cloudy day. And the subject is centre in the image and is surrounded by scrap metal.
In this photograph the photographer was standing quite close to the subject and has centred the subject in the frame. The camera lens that the photographer used was not stated on the website but I presume that it is just a standard lens like a 18-50mm etc. The aperture of this image was probably taken at F4-6 stops give or take a few.The lighting in this photograph is direct sunlight because of all the harsh dark shadows.

If we do get stuck down in lockdown again I feel that because I live at home not in the Uni accommodation I will still be able to document the farm, but for my Plan B I would take 8 portraits of my family.

My Outcomes so far:

Tree Cutting:

I had a go at taking some pictures for this project and here are the outcomes.

With these few images I really like the first one and the last one as the composition of these images are really strong the use of the

The portrait of Chloe looks very similar to Matt Black’s work.

TB Testing during the Pandemic:

cut the feet off is no no

Sheep Scanning:

With this shoot I had to use flash as it was too dark in the barn. I started without using it but they ended up to dark so for the rest of the shoot I used flash.
