Standard Shoot Exercise:
In these photographs I took them sitting on the bathroom floor and also standing on the toilet or just holding up my camera in the air with out looking in the view finder to get higher than the figure in the photograph. (Throughout these photographs I did not use a telephoto lens.) So far I feel that this is one of my favourite photoshoots that I have done so far for this module (this also includes the 2 sets of images that are further down the page) as I feel that the out comes for these images came out incredibly well and I am very proud of them. I usually don’t take very good photos in colour and I prefer them in black and white but feel that these images look really good in colour. My 2 favourite photographs are the second and fourth one because they have a really strong composition that is very unique and because of the contrast between the shadows and dark clothing and the light pastel colours of the bathroom it really draws your attention to the figure in the photographs. if I could change 1 thing about these images it would be to turn the other light in the room off as it leaves a amber glare on the door in the third image.

Standard Shoot Exercise:
In these photographs I shot these at night and used a man made light to light up my subject washing his face I also used reflections to document him as well. I really like this shoot as I feel that the contrast between warmth of the amber/red light and the dark black shadows give these images really strong and strangely a warm gloomy emotion to it. This strong and impactful contrast makes you feel as though you are in there in the bathroom yourself. My 2 favourite images are the third and fifth one as the composition of these photographs are extremely captivating to the viewers eye. Similar with the first set of photographs but feel that these images look amazing in colour. if I could change one thing about these photos would be to change the colour of the flannel the the figure uses in the first and third photograph and the slight green colour in the photo I feel is a little of putting.

Standard Shoot Exercise:
I also shot these at night using man made light and a flash light. In the photos of the individual without capturing the majority of their face. I also used their reflection to document them as well. I feel that this shoot went well as I got some great shots from it although these images aren’t as strong as the other previous shoots they still are very strong images. My 2 favourite photographs from this shoot are the first and third as I really like their use of the flash light

Flash and ISO Exercise:
For these first photographs I used the inbuilt flash on my camera and put it in manual mode and change the brightness in the settings. I changed the shutter speed aperture and iso in most of the images. I was just experimenting in these photographs as I had never used flash before so I was seeing what would work in this setting. In my opinion I don’t really like these images I feel that they are a bit crap but I was just experimenting with flash and had nearly any idea with what I was doing. I also feel that I don’t like these images because they aren’t really my style of photograph as I really like black and white photographs. My favourite image is the fourth one because of the composition as it is unique compared to the other images.

Flash and ISO Exercise:
In these next photographs I was experimenting to see what different brightnesses on the flash built in to my camera would do and how quickly flash drop off would take affect in the setting that I was in.

Flash and ISO Exercise:
With these photographs I took what I had learned and decided to take pictures with a subject in them and change the flash’s brightness to see how that affected the image itself and the individuals complexion from a distance.

During this exercise I found that I really like the look of flash in pictures as it can cause some amazing shadows that contrasts really well with the light. I really like this aesthetic especially in portraits. I feel that the use of having a harsh contrast between the lights and the shadows really enhances the emotions that the image is portraying through the individual in the photograph and thought the colours that are found in the photograph. I also love the flash drop off effect as it emphasise the main focus of the image as it makes the individual stand out more from the dark and contrasting background which in turn gives the image more of a moody and intimidating feel to the photograph. I am really excited to use this style in the future with different models and also in this one too.

Exercise 3: Colour Contrast (flash or daylight):
For this shoot I couldn’t figure out how to get the image that I wanted and the first load of them ended overexposed and too bright. But when I realised that with the images that I wanted to get was to move the speed light so it wasn’t directly shining on the can then the images ended up really strong.

Class Exercise 2: Recreating a Photograph:
In this shoot we had to choose a Photograph by another artist and create it in our own style. I chose a photograph form a photo series called Black Mother taken by Khalik.
I feel that recreating this photograph in Britain as in the photograph it look like a cloudy day and there was no hash sun light. I also feel that it will work taken from any part of cheltenham.

Here are my outcomes for this shoot:
