David Bailey:
David Bailey is an amazing portrait photographer the use of a harsh flash makes his images stand out really well. David Bailey is an English fashion and portrait photographer. I would like to use the flash for the location portraits as I would like to take pictures of farmers for that part of the project. I feel that the use of flash would look really good especially if there is a-lot of strong colours as it will stand out really well.

This image was taken in a studio setting. In the foreground there are 2 men who are very close to the camera and they are staggered behind one another and they are both staring straight down the lens. Having both men stagger behind one another with the shorter one behind the other this causes the viewer to look at the man in the black suit first then at the other man in the grey suit. Then their height difference act as a leading line and causes you to look back at the man in the black suit. The lighting used is studio lights which is placed slightly higher and to the far right of the subjects. The lighting looks diffused but is only featured on one side as it causes a dark harsh shadow on the left of the subject. in this photograph the lens used could be a wide lens as the subject look quite large but I think it might be more of a standard lens. I also think that he used a shallow f-stop of possibly f5.6-f7 as the second man in the grey suit is slight out of focus and isn’t as sharp as the other man.

George Muncey ( YouTube Title (YTT): Negative Feedback):
George Muncey is well known photographer not just for his portraits but also his YouTube channel where he reviews different types of film cameras and reviews his viewers work on live stream. What I really like about his work is the use of soft, natural lighting, and the key themes of neutral tones through out his portraits. I would really like to take these elements into my studio portraits for this project as I like the softness of the light on the subjects and gives the image this weird intimacy and vunerability between the subject and the viewer.

In some of his portraits the use of a slow shutter speed give a lot of his images more character and depth to the individual being photographed. I would really like to have a go at using the effect of slow shutter speeds as it makes the images look really cool.

Annie Leibovitz:
Annie Leibovitz is also another amazing portrait photographer and is well known for this through out the photography industry.
